From Apples to Apples ...

Tonight I played "Apples to Apples" with Sandy's family and Larry and Jewel.

Then Charlie, Lucy, Jack, and Max sat on these apples - my really cool bar stools that I bought from Alex K. Good thing they are not real apples cause that might be a bit uncomfortable.

Sometimes I cry

about things that aren't sad or spiritual - at least not really.

Like today in our graduate seminar. The man presenting talked in great detail about Karl G. Maeser. I found myself getting teary and choked up when he described the vision this man had for BYU. Then I started thinking... is this weird?

Then I started thinking about other things that I get teary about (besides the usual sad or testimony type stuff):

when I cut onions
watching someone score a touchdown
watching a team that I like take state
when I see anyone giving a tribute about anyone else
when I see missionaries reunited with their families
watching junior high kids do simple, small, nice things for other junior high kids (it is rare)
when one of my favorite teams on the Amazing Race accomplishes some huge task and they get emotional
when they play the star spangled banner during the Olympics
when Presient Hinckley waves to a crowd in the BYU Marriott center and thousands of people wave back
when my brothers tell me they love me
when Ann Dee writes about my parents
when Rory graduated from Chilton
O captain my captain
Wake Him up - The Champ (oh whoops that is a sad one)
Rudy Rudy Rudy
Lucas Lucas Lucas
(I'm starting to notice a pattern)

Oh and I guess this one applies: when I tore my achilles tendon (tears of physical pain)

There are more - I just can't think of them all. Karl just got me thinking ...

Pizzeria Seven Twelve

The chef/owner of the new Pizzeria Seven Twelve came over to my house last night and together we made a killer dinner for our friends. Colton used to be the head chef at the Tree Room - yes that Tree Room (Bob's favorite place to eat - yes that Bob). He recently stopped working at Sundance to start up this new restaurant in Orem. It is opening soon. Go eat there and I promise you will love the food.

Colton was patient with me because I was really slow at chopping and mashing potatoes - like on the Sophomore team. Colton was really fast - like a varsity starter or probably more like in the pros or something. Sorry for the bad analogy. Anyway, it was yummy and fun. Thanks Colton!

Holly and Tod and Lennon were in town as well for the big triathlon. Holly took some pictures of my condo for all of you who care but have not seen it in person. Here ya go:

Tryouts are Monday

Will I be able to stay away? I cannot image adding one more thing to my life right now. Unless that thing was an hour or two of sleep. I really don't miss coaching until I get around these girls. Last night I went to see Kenz and Mar play volleyball at UVSC. They won and now they are in the semi-finals today. I yelled so loud I lost my voice and now my throat hurts.

I can't let myself get sucked in but I really don't know how to stay away. It is too much fun and I love these girls. My obsessive personality doesn't really allow me to be halfway involved or to do something halfway. What is your opinon? Can I be involved with this team this season in a healthy way or should I really stay away altogether? Any advice?

Halloweenie ...

This is my favorite part of Halloween. Who needs creativity when your main goal is to eat these?

Today as I walked from the Bean to the McKay and back - I saw various "zoobies" dressed up like pirates, football players, speed skaters, and cowboys etc. I don't know if anyone could tell what I was. Here is a hint:

New Subject: Trick or Treating
This is the best age to go - old enough to go without adults, young enough that the people behind the doors aren't annoyed.

Today as my mom and I were leaving to come out to see some cute kids and their costumes, we took a drive down University to see all the Trick or Treaters in the shops. It was so cool - Provo felt like a big city. It made my mom cry. I asked her why she was crying and she said becuase, "They are so cute and their parents are so cute."

Now that Halloween is over, it is time say goodbye to these:

and Vega. Yes Vega chose the spookiest day of the year to leave this life and the Museum's live animal show rotation. I guess she wasn't made for the big time. This is the report I got from my student employee in charge of the live animals:

"I'm sorry to tell you that Vega is no longer with us. She passed away sometime last night. I think she may have had what the first salamander had, because they both had raw bellies. The rawness seems to be exhibited right before or post mortem, because when i saw her yesterday her skin wasn't raw, but she was shedding. This past week she became lethargic and wouldn't eat, and she kept scratching. I thought at the time it was just because she was shedding, the snakes act the same way, but seeing as she is now dead, I see a correlation between her behavior and the first salamander. The first one never moved and always hid, and when we found him he had raw underbelly skin. I had just put Vega on towels last night because I wanted to change her dirt to see if that was affecting her. It wasn't because of the cage though, the first salamander was kept in an aquarium. I'm going to see if I can find anything online, and I have contacted Dr ---------. I will let you know as soon as I find anything out."

RIP Vega.

It is not time to say goodbye to these:

I asked Tyson (Captain Jack Sparrow) and Luke (the Black Power Ranger) if they knew who has candy at their house every day of the year and they both answered, "Katy does". I must keep my place as #1 favorite aunt. Who am I kidding - I keep the candy around for intuitive eating purposes.

Other cute kids that I made an effort to see in their costumes:

I tried hard to get Ann Dee to let Van be this:

But then he'd be a Halloweenie.

PS - In light of my last post, this is what I dressed up as for Halloween in 8th grade.

PPS - My mom had to comfort my dad because he gets scared at Halloween and she doesn't. She grew up in a mortuary after all.

Oh and one more thing - I mentioned the Bean and Halloween (hey that rhymes) earlier. Well, check this out.

GONE

200 N and University - one block away ...

Before work today ...

After work today ...

Subway is GONE
Diegos is GONE
Cotton shop is GONE

With the new Zion's bank building, will my view of Mt. Timpanogos also be... GONE?

What do you think?

On second thought - I might have a view of other naked people. Yes, I said OTHER naked people. I still have no window coverings and I like it that way! Hmmm, maybe my new view wont be SO bad ...

Will my days of exposing myself to Provo be GONE?
