Hey little guy - I used to babysit yo mama!

2008 Bean Stock
No, not Woodstock. No, not as in Jack and the Beanstalk.

We are talking a talent show with the student employees at the Bean Life Science Museum - Duh!

You give Charlotte a hymn number and she will tell you what song it is - very talented.

I sang karaoke, played the harmonica, and did my yo-yo tricks.

Conversation with my personal trainer

The scene: I'm on the floor doing crunches, PT is standing next to me talking

PT: So I have this cool contraption on my bike
Katy: moan
PT: It is a speedometer
Katy: ugh
PT: It can detect my heart rate
Katy: oh
PT: It can tell me the elevation
Katy: Can it tell you how many crunches I've done?

Come on buddy - save the stories for in between exercises!

Just in Case...

anyone wants to know what I did today. If you don't then close your browser or navigate away from here.

My day began with a GREAT birding trip with MW and the Bean. You can read about it here. I drove a van that belonged to BYU.

Then I was lucky enough to spend the afternoon with these guys (again, I drove a van) ...

First we went to lunch...

Then we went to a museum and met the famous artist JKR

and enjoyed the chocolate fountain

and some of us got our picture taken in front of a dragon painting

Later Karen and I went to see this movie:

It's been a good day.

Observations and Purchases

OBSERVATIONS:
Today on BYU campus I saw the following:
  • a kid riding a unicycle during the busy class break
  • a kid changing a diaper under a tree (OK he was probably 21 but he looked 16)
  • two kids holding pinkies (reminds me of OH2 and LB & AH)
PURCHASES:
Now you know I'm getting serious...

about swimming (watch out MP) and

about sleep. It was either this or window coverings but I didn't want to disappoint my fans.

My good friend, Drew Brinley, is starting his second round of chemotherapy this week. I've joined his buddy, Eric Bills, in trying to raise enough money to buy him a nice laptop for him to use while he is in bed at the hospital or at home.

Eric started a facebook group called "Friends of Drew Brinley"
He also stared a blog: http://laptop4drew.blogspot.com/
You can also send messages to drew at this email address: laptop4drew@gmail.com

I know some of you might know Drew (and even if you don't), you may want to donate. Every little bit will help.

Laptop For Drew

I've been touched by the generosity of the blogging world in response to Stephanie Nielson and her husband. I've also included in this post a button to donate to their recovery. You can read about her at: http://blog.cjanerun.com/

Here are some pictures of Drew that I have taken in the last year or so:

Isn't it ironic

This morning the elevators in my building were not working. I took the stairs hoping that by the time I finished my errands, they would be working. Well they weren't so I walked up the six flights of stairs with my groceries.

I was planning on going to the gym or to BYU to swim some laps but I didn't want to take the stairs again so I decided that I'd just stay home and jump rope. It wasn't until I was talking to a friend on the phone explaining why I was out of breath that I realized what an idiot I am.
