Personal Training in review

A few things have happened lately at the gym that I want to document.

No. 1: I forgot my socks so we did all my exercises in the dance room - no big deal.

No. 2: My personal trainer also trains that way famous hair guy - the Shep guy - and so my personal trainer got a $50 haircut for $free ninety nine.

No. 3: I dropped my socks in the toilet when I was changing in the stall (No, I am not comfortable with myself enough to change in front of other women) so we did all my exercises in the dance room again - no big deal.

No. 4: When my personal trainer asked me how my girls were doing I pretended that I didn't know he was referring to my basketball team and subsequently made him blush and I laughed. Sexual harassment? Maybe. Maybe not.

On an unrelated note, I have the song "Tiny Dancer" on repeat right now. I just really like it. It makes me want to watch this movie:

If you liked this book ...

Then you'll also like this one:

This book is written in the same style as "This is What I Did:." Although it is about an older girl who likes to karate chop people and has her own stuff to deal with. I don't want to spoil anything but I will say that I couldn't put it down and it made me cry.

Be on the look out: March 2009 (hard cover release)

NOTE: I was not supposed to read it but when I saw the "advanced reading" copy at Ann Dee's house, I basically stole it. So if you are one of my siblings reading this, don't get mad at Ann Dee - you all know she has no control over me.

ALSO NOTE: I know some of you are rolling your eyes at my positive review because I am Ann Dee's sister so therefore I must be biased. However if you really know me and Ann Dee, you also know that I am her biggest critic so you can believe me when I say this is a good book.

You weren't the only one who didn't show up...

Thats right folks. This guy did not show up for the Bean's birthday party on Saturday. Tyson and Luke were quite disappointed as were lots of other kids. Everything else went well - see some pictures here.

Lets just say that I was not in charge of this part of the celebration.

"Nothing says Easter like a BEEF STICK"

This is what my friend said when I told her that I was buying Larry a beef stick for Easter. I really didn't think it was so strange until she said that and then all day the line kept running through my head.

Larry and Jewel have been in London since February 24 and they got back Friday night. I was excited to see them. So yesterday I took their Easter gifts over (I didn't wait until Sunday morning like you are supposed to - I'm not into surprises) and they came out wearing their new hoodies.

Me: Where did you get those?
Larry: From you
Me: Hmmm
Larry: Sandy gave them to us when she picked us up at the airport and said they were from all of you for our birthdays
Me: I'll be sure to give Sandy a few bucks ...

So this morning I've been pondering ...

When Larry and Jewel were on a mission in Mexico and then London, I got so used to not needing them in any way. Now when they leave for almost a month I really miss them. This got me wondering just how many more years I have with them - 73 isn't exactly young although Larry would disagree for sure.

All I can say is that I'm glad that because of who and what we celebrate on this day, these two will be my parents for a very long time - more than just a few more years.

NOTE: Pondering ... One of my favorite things about being single is Sunday mornings ... so nice and quiet with plenty of time to plan a lesson or a talk. The other thing I love is the sacrament - so reverent you can hear a cell phone vibrate.

The BEAN turns 30!

So I put this video together for the museum's 30th Anniversary. If you aren't busy next week you should stop by. Saturday, March 29th, will be the big birthday party. Click here for the details.

FYI - This video is 6 minutes long.

Day and Knight

This is Stacy Day

This is Katy Knight

Stacy Day likes to stay up late into the night.

Katy Knight is at her best early in the day.

Stacy Day lives north of the point and Katy Knight lives south of the point.

So it may seem like we're as different as day and night. Maybe we are, but ... luckily for me, our lives still manage to overlap enough that I still get to see her lots.

Like the time she slept over to go bird watching with me and a group from the Bean. That was fun.

Blockbuster or Netfilx

Saturday I canceled my online membership to Blockbuster. I had the deal where you can have any three movies out at a time and turn them in to the store for an automatic rental. I was kinda mad at them because they raised their rate on me without notice. I think that existing members should be able to keep their existing rates. I was pissed. So I decided to quit them. I talked myself into it.

1) I will save money
2) There is plenty to watch on TV
3) I own lots of movies that I love
4) If I really want to watch a movie I can just go rent it
5) I should read more

The second I confirmed my cancellation online, I almost started to have a panic attack. What am I going to do without my movies? Now that I've canceled, if I rejoin it'll cost me tons more money. This seriously bothered me for hours. Had I just made a HUGE mistake?

Ann Dee was able to calm me down and talk me into joining Netflix. I feel better. I signed up for the two movies at a time deal. I won't be able to turn them in at a store for a new movie right away but that is OK. It's cheaper and I will be able to slowly return to a healthy routine of movie watching.

So... do you use Blockbuster or Netflix?

All I have to say is ...

Four more weeks.

We don't exactly vote each other off the island but sometimes it feels like we're trying to. I really love this class and I'm learning a lot. It's great to work with 10 other people on an instructional design project and in the process make some really great friends.

1-2-3

So sometimes when I'm home reading or doing homework I hear people honk their horns as the drive down University. I think to myself: Are they honking at me? I don't know - maybe. How would I ever know?

I'll let you in on a little secret I have with my basketball girls. Sometimes they need a little pick-me-up during a game or something, especially if they were just chewed out by the head coach. So I taught them that three pats on the back mean 1-2-3 = I love you. It's fun to get texts from them on occasion that end with "123".

1 = I

2 = LOVE

3 = YOU

So next time you are driving down University Avenue near the Wells Fargo Building and you want to tell me you love me ... you now know what to do. Not only will I know that the honks were for me but I'll know someone loves me! Problem is I just won't know who.

P.S. Yes those are my phalanges.

Shower Power

Yesterday I was sitting in the back of Ann Dee and Cameron's car next to Van when Ann Dee threw a bunch of laminated scriptures at me and said, "here have some shower power." I guess somebody in her ward stole my idea.

I was totally bugged. That was my idea - I started it on my mission. I've done it ever since. Here is my shower right now ...

My shower is packed with quotes, scriptures, affirmations, and goals - this is only some of it.

A few months ago, my friend showed me this product. Again I was bugged - I could be rich.

Today I got a text message from a friend wanting to know how to keep the quotes up. Laminate and packing tape my friend. That sounded cool - repeat out loud: Laminate and packing tape.

I remember a time when I had a boy over (yes one that I liked) for game night and he went to use my bathroom. He came back exclaiming, "there is quite a bit of lamination going on in that bathroom." At first I was embarrassed that he saw all my little affirmations and then I was more bothered by the fact that he was looking in my shower. WEIRD.

I think I need to add a quote to my shower about sharing and not needing the credit for really good ideas. Anyone have a good quote along those lines?

Come over and take a shower - it's almost as good as church . Wouldn't you agree Ann Dee?

T-Y-S-O-N

Last week Tyson called to ask me to say the closing prayer at his baptism. I pretended that I didn't know who was calling.

"Who is this?"
"T-Y-S-O-N"

Today was his big day and I was happy to be there!

Some of Tyson's cousins came. I took a picture of Charlie and Van cause they have the same hairdo.
